Mr. Virgil C. Lott, the first African American to graduate from the University of Texas School of Law, helped pave the way for persons of color to have the opportunity to pursue higher education. The Austin Black Lawyers Association, in its desire to honor Mr. Lott's struggles and achievements, created the Austin Black Lawyers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, and established the Virgil C. Lott Scholarship Fund to help local high school students achieve their dream of college.
The Foundation regularly awards scholarships to deserving students that demonstrate ability, drive, accomplishment and need. The funds awarded to students are derived from sponsorships received from the annual golf tournament.
We invite you to participate in our upcoming golf tournament as a sponsor and/or a player so that we may continue to serve our community with these scholarships. By becoming a sponsor for the 25th Annual Virgil C. Lott Scholarship Golf Tournament, you will play a major role in assisting the fulfillment of a young dreamer's desire to attend college.
